Celtics beat the big three

The Boston Celtics fired a warning shot at the Miami Heat in Tuesday nights game. Miami Heat and the big three lost 88-80 in the NBA season opener.

James scored 31 points, with Dwyane Wade struggling to make an impact, scoring 13 points, Chris Bosh added eight points and eight rebounds. They combined for 15 of the Heat’s 17 turnovers – eight by James, six by Wade.

Ray Allen topped the Celtic scorers with 20 points, Pierce scored 19 and Kevin Garnett had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Boston led the 45-30 at halftime, but the game was within reach when James made a layup taking it to 83-80 with 1:10 left on the clock.

Boston finished the game with a three-pointer by Allen and two free throws by Pierce.

Lakers 112, Rockets 110

Champions, the Lakers started their season in fine fashion coming back into the game from a 15 point deficit at one point. Kobe Bryant scored 27 points, newcomer Steve Blake hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 18.8 seconds left, Pau Gasol scored 29 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers. Kevin Martin scored 26 points, Aaron Brooks hit 24 and Yao Ming had nine points and 11 rebounds for Houston.

Trail Blazers 106, Suns 91

Nicolas Batum scored 19 points and 11 rebounds as Portland beat the Suns. Brandon Roy scored 24 points for the Blazers. Steve Nash scored 26 points for Phoenix.
